Rubber is an elastic polymer that can be found in nature in its natural form or artificially produced. Natural rubber is produced from the resin of various tropical trees and a number of other plants. The rubber has great flexibility, high friction coefficient and uniform structure. Synthetic rubber comes in a variety of types, thicknesses, and sizes with varying degrees of difficulty. Each type has different properties and different use. There are smooth sheets, textured sheets (on one or both sides), spongy rubber sheets and synthetic fiber sheets.

Laser cutting of rubber

Laser cutting yields a level of finish that can not be reached by other methods of cutting. The laser cutting process can be used to create accurate rubber gaskets in a variety of thicknesses, and is ideal when small to medium quantities are needed or when developing a new product and few versions are needed before deciding on the final version.

Neoprene - Neoprene is a type of rubber sheet with a cloth laminated known mainly from the maritime field where it is used as a water-resistant material in diving suits. Neoprene comes in large sheets and several thicknesses and can be laser cut accurately.

Uses - seals, gaskets, stencils, brackets, product parts, decoration, designed coasters, shock absorbents, fashion, and decoration.
