Bamboo is a family of high-speed and high-altitude cereal plants. The structure of the fibers in the plant gives the bamboo stiffness and strength mainly along the fibers. Bamboo is characterized by high strength to weight ratio .There are different types of bamboo, with different shades and different strength. They are used in a wide range of uses such as: interior furniture, gastronomic accessories, scaffolding products for the construction of skyscrapers (mainly in Asia) and more.
The plant's growth speed makes the bamboo an easy-to-use and environmentally friendly and is considered a "green" material. The raw bamboo stalks produce flat boards in several thicknesses and in a number of shades that can then be processed with laser cutting machines. Many architects and designers are increasingly discovering the material and its possibilities.

Laser cutting of Bamboo

Laser cutting of bamboo is similar to cutting any other wood. The cut line (KERF) is uniform, darkened and almost without soot. The board can be impregnated with oils before or after the laser cutting process to provide the product a deeper look and stronger wood image as well as durability and protection from moisture. The thickness of the boards is relatively homogeneous, therefore making is suitable for wooden boxes and other 3D products that are built from parts that have to fit to each other accurately.

Applications - wooden boxes, wooden trays, furnitures, product development, display installations and more.

Laser Engraving of Bamboo

Laser engraving on bamboo results in a darker graphics similar to engraving on other kinds of wood. Combining laser cutting and laser engraving in one product opens many possibilities, such as producing a box made of bamboo with a logo etching on one or more faces. A little warning - the bamboo is not the right choice when you wish to engrave small text, because the wood pattern might make it less readable.

Applications - Branding bamboo products such as wooden puzzle games, branded wooden boxes for luxury packaging, branded bamboo trays, menu holders for restaurants, decorative accessories, wooden handles for bags, wooden toys and more.
